The 2014 Toyota Highlander is an extremely versatile, spacious new Toyota model.

And to drive this point home in an unexpected way, Toyota introduced a very special version of its flagship SUV for the crowd at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, this year in Las Vegas.

Dubbed the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander: Tanked Edition, the unique Toyota vehicle featured aquatic-themed interior and exterior detailing. And, one major detail the SpongeBob Highlander has to show for itself was a gigantic (800-gallon) saltwater tank with more than thirty species (and over a hundred individual) underwater friends swimming around in it.

Toyota and Nickelodeon co-designed the Highlander model, but the custom tank was the work of Wayde King and Brett Raymer: stars of the popular Animal Planet TV show, "Tanked." The duo owns a company called Acrylic Tank Manufacturing where they provide top-notch, specialized aquatic tanks for big-name celebrities, high-end hotel and casinos and more.

The specific tank in the SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired Highlander takes up the entire length of the auto and is positioned behind the front seats.

"Brett and I love the challenge of designing aquariums in every shape and size and welcomed the opportunity to bring living art like this to SEMA," King says. "The teams at Toyota and Nickelodeon gave us great platforms in the Highlander and SpongeBob SquarePants to create something fun and inspiring for fans."1

As fans, we'd have to agree.
