Prior to this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Toyota called on four master automotive builders to craft “Extreme” takes on some popular Toyota models. Among the vehicles Toyota rolled out to display at SEMA were these four extreme machines:
- Extreme Sienna
- Land Speed Cruiser
- Prius Extreme
- XTREME Corolla
Come along with us as we take a closer look at these exciting concept models!
Extreme Sienna
Builder Rick Leos, of Real Time Automotive, married an unlikely vehicular pair to arrive at the final concept for the Extreme Sienna: a minivan and a Learjet. The outcome is a way-turned-up version of Toyota’s “Swagger Wagon,” complete with reclining seats, a state-of-the-art home theater system, Wi-Fi capability, and even a refrigerator. The entire van, including its air ride system, is wired up for iPad controllability. Minivans are built to accommodate families—and this is one van your family may want to live in as well as drive!
Land Speed Cruiser
Serving up an extreme turbocharged take on Toyota’s Land Cruiser, Toyota Motorsports Technical Center Manager Chuck Wade crafted the Land Speed Cruiser—an SUV that can reach speeds of up to 220 mph and produces a mind-blowing 2,000 hp! In crafting the Land Speed Cruiser, it was all about the happenings under the hood. The exterior of the vehicle looks like an ordinary Land Cruiser and gives little hint of the dynamite it carries underneath.
Prius Extreme
Gordon Ting, of Beyond Marketing, took on the challenge of modifying a Toyota Prius and taking it to extreme performance levels that seemed impossible for a hybrid. But Ting has more than proven that the industry’s bestselling hybrid can bring power as well as efficiency. The Prius Extreme, also known as the Prius G, is the result, and this bona fide performance car pulled 0.99 g in skid pad tests, proving it can run with the power houses. The Prius G even outperformed the BMW 528i sedan in independent tests.
XTREME Corolla
A longstanding driver favorite within the Toyota family got an extreme new look courtesy of Jeremy Lookofsky, of Cartel Customs. Lookofsky is the innovator behind the XTREME Corolla, which transforms the iconic Toyota Corolla from a four-door sedan into a two-door sports coupe. This concept gives the Corolla an aggressive, sporty look like never before, and even the interior has been revamped to include features like a unique floating center console. Every detail was attended to in transforming the popular Corolla into a hot sports car!
