Toyota has shown their dedication to safety through well-designed models with outstanding features. Recently, the addition of the new Toyota safety package allowed the brand to earn a prestigious award from the New England Motor Press Association, the Yankee Cup Technology Award. Toyota models will be safer than ever with the security of high-tech driver’s assistance systems.
TSS-P
Toyota’s Safety Sense (TSS-P) protects drivers under a number of different circumstances. Even when drivers are paying complete attention to the road, they may miss a few things. That's where Toyota's technology comes into play. TSS-P comes with a built-in camera and front grille-mounted radar to stay ahead of potential road hazards. In addition to the camera and radar, you can expect these features on many Toyota models:
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control lets you use cruise control more effectively. Set the speed limit to your preferred speed, and let the system adjust as necessary. The system decelerates if it detects slower moving vehicles in front of you, though it will only accelerate up to the pre-set speed you entered.
Lane Departure Alert and Steering Assistance help you stay safe in your lane. The system reads the ground to keep track of lane lines. If you drift out of the lane without a turn signal, the vehicle will signal a warning. You can also count on the steering assistance system to put you back in the center of your appropriate lane.
Pedestrian Detection Function is used with the Toyota's built-in camera to warn you if a pedestrian is passing in front of you. When you hit the brakes, the brake assistance system will help you apply more force to stop quickly.
Pre-Collision System senses when there is a possible accident and will warn you to prevent a collision. It works with the Pedestrian Detection System, and it will apply brakes and force as needed.
The integrated radars work with the Automatic High Beam system. This system determines whether your high or low beams are needed. Not only does this make you a courteous driver, but it makes roads safer.
