We at Chicago Northside Toyota were excited about it from the get-go. April 2017 will see the release of the 2018 Toyota C-HR, or Coupe High-Rider, and it'll be, we can say with Toyota's press release, a work of "stunning style, driving dynamics and versatility;" curvaceous, urban "avant-garde;" "bold, outgoing," its exterior, dubbed Distinctive Diamond, giving way to a "modern, comfortable" MeZONE cabin plush with soft-touch materials; its quiet ride made possible by an acoustic noise-reducing front windshield. Toyota ultimately called 2018 C-HR a "shift in the CUV paradigm." It's hard to disagree (and we don't want to).

It surely helps that C-HR was designed by Deputy Chief Engineer and "die-hard racer" Hiro Koba and his team, and tuned on the Nurburgring racing circuit to be that "blend of comfort, control, consistency, and responsiveness" one expects in a design bearing the promise of the aerodynamics made possible by a 0.34 drag coefficient. Rear quarter panel canards, front and rear spats, a streamlined rear lower bumper, stabilizing fins and rigid undercovers all help in delivering enhanced control. C-HR even showcases a 60.6-inch front and rear tracks, matching it to the Toyota 86 sports car spec. And other standards like 18-inch alloy wheels, comfort-customizing dual-zone climate control, bucket seating, and a crystal-clear 7-inch audio display help create the all-around seamless experience.

But it's Toyota Safety Sense P™ (TSS-P) coming standard that propels C-HR to victory road. A suite of safety features to deliver the ideal intelligent driving experience, and the only anticipated instance of tech like this in the segment. TSS-P helps C-HR detect, and alert you to, other nearby vehicles and pedestrians, and automatically applies brakes to help avoid them. It can help you remain in-lane during unintentional drift using small corrective steering inputs, as well as adjust your speed to keep safe pre-set distance from other, lower-speed vehicles, and automatically switch between high and low beams to suit ambient lighting.

If you're coming in from Schaumburg, Glenview, Park Ridge, or nearby, stop by and await this curio with us by treating yourself to a test drive of one of our line of hard-charging 2017 Toyota sedan, SUV or truck models. We look forward to it!
