A major Toyota Prius Prime award win was recently announced at the New York International Auto Show. Bringing Toyota this big win for the second year in a row, the Prius Prime was named the “2017 World Green Car,” shining above all other competitors in its category. Toyota previously won this award in 2016, with that year’s honor going to the Toyota Mirai.
An Eco-Friendly Winner
The honor of the Toyota Prius Prime being chosen as the “2017 World Green Car” is evidence of Toyota’s success in focusing on creating vehicles that stir consumers’ emotions as well as meeting their needs.
The Prius Prime was chosen as the “2017 World Green Car” above 12 other vehicles from across the globe. Among criteria considered in selecting the winner, factors like tailpipe emissions, fuel economy, and utilization of significant advanced powerplant technology targeted at boosting the car’s environmental accountability were considered.
In all award categories that are part of the World Car Awards program, the winning vehicles were voted on by an international panel of jurors made up of 75 top automotive journalists from 23 countries.
Other Toyota Wins
In addition to claiming “World Green Car” for two consecutive years, Toyota boasts various other wins within the World Car Awards program, which marked 13 years in existence in 2017. Along with the Toyota Mirai’s win in 2016 and the Prius Prime’s win this year, other Toyota wins have been as follows:
