2027 Toyota Prius Trim Levels

The Prius lineup is four trims deep for 2027, each available with front- or all-wheel drive, so there are eight versions on the order sheet. The powertrain is the same in all of them. Here is where the money goes as you move up, using Toyota's figures.

What each step adds

  1. LE: the efficiency trim and the only one on 17-inch wheels, which is why it is rated 55 mpg and has 3.5 cu. ft. more cargo room. Fabric seats, 8-inch screen, smart key on the driver's door, LED headlights and the full safety suite.
  2. XLE: 19-inch wheels, SofTex heated front seats with an 8-way power driver's seat, heated steering wheel, 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, smart key on both front doors and the liftback, rear center armrest, auto-dimming mirror. Digital Key is available.
  3. Nightshade: the XLE with black 19-inch wheels, black badges and mirrors, black sills and a carbon-fiber-look dash. About $800 over XLE.
  4. Limited: ventilated front seats with driver memory, 8-speaker JBL audio, power liftback, and the option of heated rear seats and a digital rearview mirror. The only Prius with those three.

Front-drive or AWD

FWD, 194 hp

2.0-liter four-cylinder with the front motor. 11.3-gallon tank. The one to pick if mileage is the point.

AWD, 196 hp

Adds an electric rear motor for $1,400; no driveshaft. Tank shrinks to 10.5 gallons and combined mpg drops two to three. Worth it for an uncovered driveway and a hilly commute.

Both

Same seats, screens and trim content at each trim name. Toyota rates the hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles.

Which Prius to buy

  • Mileage and price: LE. Nothing else in the lineup is rated 55, and the smaller wheels ride better on broken pavement.
  • Heated seats and the big screen without the top price: XLE, or Nightshade if you want the black look.
  • Everything: Limited. If you want heated rear seats, order them; they are an option, not standard.
  • The Prius Plug-in Hybrid is a separate model with a larger battery and electric-only range; ask us about it if you can charge at home.
