Toyota Hybrid Battery Life and Warranty, Explained
How long Toyota backs the hybrid battery, which other hybrid parts are covered, and the simple care step some models call for. Every warranty figure comes from Toyota's own warranty pages and guides, read October 26, 2026.

How long does a Toyota hybrid battery last?
Toyota's warranty pages do not give a lifespan figure, but Toyota backs the hybrid battery for a long time: hybrids from the 2020 model year on carry a 10-year/150,000-mile hybrid battery warranty, whichever comes first, counted from the original date of first use. Earlier model years had 8-year/100,000-mile coverage. Your Warranty & Maintenance Guide has the exact terms.

What changed in the 2020 model year
Starting with the 2020 model year, Toyota raised its hybrid battery warranty from 8 years or 100,000 miles to 10 years from the date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Toyota's electrified vehicle page now states that every Toyota hybrid battery is supported by 10-year/150,000-mile limited warranty coverage.
If you drive an earlier hybrid, or are shopping for a used one, the model year matters. Toyota's Warranty & Maintenance Guide for that year is the place to confirm the terms. Our certified used Toyota page explains the extra coverage on certified vehicles.
Other hybrid parts Toyota covers
Beyond the battery itself, Toyota's Hybrid System Warranty covers these for 8 years or 100,000 miles:
Hybrid battery control module
Toyota's guide also calls it the battery voltage sensor.
Hybrid control module
Also called the power management control module.
Inverter with converter
Listed alongside the control modules in the hybrid system coverage.

Hybrid battery care
Some Toyota hybrids have a cooling intake that feeds air to the hybrid battery. The 2026 Corolla Hybrid Warranty & Maintenance Guide lists cleaning the HEV battery cooling intake filter at specified intervals, following "Cleaning the hybrid battery (traction battery) air intake vent and filter" in the owner's manual.
Our maintenance schedules page lists the intervals, and our technicians can check the intake at your regular visit.
Check your coverage
Have your vehicle identification number (VIN) ready. Toyota lists four places to find it: your insurance card, your registration card, a plate on top of the dashboard on the driver's side near the windshield, and a label on the driver-side door jamb. Our service advisors can look up what applies to your hybrid.
